I'm Rene Mukanzi, an A Level student set to complete my studies in June 2024, and I have a deep passion for rugby and programming.
I've been playing rugby since I was 11, and it's become a significant part of my life. My current club recognizes me as a skilled player due to my impressive performances in both local and international tournaments. Back in my home country, I competed in five local tournaments, winning two gold medals with my team.
In July 2023, I joined Mwamba Club in Kenya and now play for their under-20 team. I’m training hard to make it onto the Kenya National under-20 team. Before this, I played for Bahrain Rugby Club from January 2019 to June 2023. During my time with the Bahrain Colts, we participated in three international tournaments, securing a silver medal as second runners-up in one of them. In March 2023, our team won the under-19 Regional Rugby tournament in Muscat, where I proudly earned a gold medal and the team took home the trophy.
Throughout the seasons, whether in home matches or tournaments against regional teams, I’ve been a valuable player. Last year, I scored the final winning try in a crucial match against Khobar, and this year, I scored three tries in the Colts' last game of the season. My tenacity, phenomenal work rate, strong tackling, and excellent ball-carrying skills, coupled with a deep understanding of the game, make me a quick thinker and decision-maker on the field—qualities that are highly valued in any team.
Since the COVID pandemic, I've been attending online school, which has given me more time to dedicate to rugby. My work ethic is second to none, and I constantly strive to improve my skills through strength and conditioning training, alongside regular team practices.
My ultimate goal is to play at the highest level, and I understand the dedication and commitment required to achieve this. I'm excited about pursuing this dream and am confident that with the right guidance and support, I can reach my full potential as a rugby player. My enthusiasm for the game drives me to continually nurture my talent and push my boundaries.
Balancing my love for rugby with my passion for programming is essential to me. I find that the discipline and strategic thinking required in both areas complement each other, making me a more well-rounded individual.
