Personal Overview

My name is Joel Leiper.

I am a 23-year-old Australian who is seeking an opportunity to play a form of high-level rugby in the UK for the 26-27 season. 

I am a Hooker/Back Rower. 

I have played in Canberra since 2021 for Tuggeranong Vikings Rugby Club and have progressed from U20's through to 2nd & 1st grade level. Over this time, I have continued to develop and refine my skills that have improved my abilities as a player, leading me to have a better impact on the field.

I am a dedicated, hardworking individual who is committed to playing a high level of rugby, while also being a crucial member of any team, with ideas of promoting a competitive and successful environment.

On and off the field, I demonstrate strong leadership qualities. In 2022, I was appointed Vice-Captain on my u20’s Colts side, and most recently appointed Captain for my 2025 season, which resulted in a fourth consecutive premiership.

As a player, my most recent achievements have been:

• 4 x Spence Cup Premiership Winner
• ACT Vets Colts Cup Premiership Winner 

I am not only a player, but I also am a clubman. I always aim to be involved with the club and giveback when I can. This can be shown through my achievement of receiving 2023 & 2025 player clubman of the year for Tuggeranong Vikings Rugby Union Club. Along with this, I was the recipient of the Vikings Group Champion of the month (June 2024) for my contribution towards not only the club, but also towards the wider community.

As a result of my on-field playing ability in 2025, I was selected to the ACT Brumbies City team for an exhibition match against ACT Brumbies Country. 

I am looking to play high-level rugby that not only continues to develop my skill set, but also challenges me to be a strong and mobile Hooker. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via email.
