Personal Overview

Hello, my name is Ben.

I am seeking an opportunity to play rugby overseas during a gap year between the end of sixth form college (May 2025) and university (September 2026).

My course at sixth form college is a Sport and Physical Activity qualification and it ends May 2025.  It is the equivalent of 3 A-Levels

I would be available to travel and start playing from July 2025.

My main playing position is Scrum Half.  I have played rugby since the age of 9 at Trojans Rugby Club in Southampton, UK.  I would describe my playing style as a running and attacking scrum half.  I love the challenge of beating opponents in 1:1 situations, offloading the ball out of tackles and looking for attacking opportunities around the pitch.  Having said that I have always worked on the key skills such as scrum half passing, box and clearance kicking.  I am proud of the hardwork I have put into these skills over the last 18 months, this has included 1:1 sessions with a coach who has been a lead academy coach at London Irish and Harlequins.

Over the last 4 years I have captained my team at Trojans, I have developed good leadership skills on and off the pitch.

Playing Career

U9-U18 (current) Trojans RFC, Southampton.

Captained Trojans U16 team who won Hampshire League (top division) and Hampshire Cup. 

U18 - Hampshire League Champions (top division).  We also made it to the U18 National Cup Semi-Final (Youtube clip attached).  The only game we lost all season was this semi-final.

U14, U15 and U16 London Irish DPP squad member.  This included playing a representative game for London Irish against Bath.

U17 Hampshire Squad 2023/24.  U17 team were unbeaten, I played 2 out of 3 games.  

U18 Hampshire Squad 2024/25.  I was selected to play in 2 of the 3 games.  Unfortunately a hamstring injury prevented me playing a full part in both games.  Footage is attached.

Hampshire RFU have signed off the required risk assessment for me to play adult rugby at the age of 17.  I have taken advantage of this and played when my U18 committments have allowed.

I have always been committed and dedicated to rugby, whether that be improving my skills on the training field or physically in the gym.

If I am fortunate enough to travel to play for your club I will show the same committment and dedication.
