Personal Overview

Hello, My name is Taine and I am a 20-year-old living currently in Christchurch, New Zealand. I am mainly a first-five but also can play halfback and fullback. I am currently studying at the University of Canterbury majoring in sport management and coaching. Currently, I'm playing club rugby in Christchurch at a club called High school old Boys'. This year to date I have managed to start and play off the bench for the premier men's team. High School Old Boys is a proud club with a proud history. It has created and produced All Blacks such as Andrew Mehrtens and George Bridge and also produced some current Super rugby players such as Daniel Lienert Brown and Sam Darry. 

Some strength I would say about myself is my kicking and passing game. Over lots of coaching and practice, it is an area I find myself being rather strong in this area of the game. I believe having these quality traits as a first five is important as a first five needs to have the ability to find kick space and be a good distributor. Another area of my game that I back and trust is my goal-kicking. This season I have been kicking around the 80% mark and this is an area I pride myself in. Through all grades and teams, since I was a ten-year-old, I have found myself being the first-choice goal kicker. Another area that I have developed in my game is my communication. Being a first five the importance of communicating to the forwards and your outsides is important. The first five is a leader in the team and dictate how and where you want to play in the field.

Although I am currently still studying at the University of Canterbury, I am hoping to come to the UK for the winter. Coming to the UK excites me as it is an opportunity to grow as a rugby player, learn a slightly different style, and learn different types of cultures. Off the field, I would be open to finding some full-time work to help with the financial side of things. Also, I enjoy giving back to younger generations so am open to helping out junior rugby teams or running coaching sessions.
