Coach Comment: Mitch McGahan (2020)

‘I have been fortunate to coach Ollie at both club and county level for the past 2 seasons. Ollie joined Bournville RFC at the start of the 2018/19 season and immediately impressed the coaching staff with his determination to improve and his natural ability as a rugby player. He is studious and will seek out feedback and implement it in order to improve his game. Ollie played in 14 of our 27 games last season despite a hamstring injury that kept him out for the good part of 6 weeks.

He was the starting centre at county u20 level for North Midlands and further impressed the Midlands county selectors and was unfortunate not to progress to the regional trials for England counties u20s, He finished the year by being rewarded with selection in the full county Men’s side for the County Championships campaign for all 3 match day squads.

Ollie has great drive and determination to succeed as a rugby player and will again be a key member of the Bournville squad for the upcoming campaign. He has shown great commitment to both his study and training travelling down from Leicester twice a week for training during the season. This further demonstrates his determination and loyalty. I had no hesitation in providing this statement as part of his scholarship application as I believe any organization would only benefit having a person of his character in their set up.’
