Personal Overview

Chriswill, you can say was “raised the right way” he has good morals and values and can be defined as a family guy. He comes from a town called Worcester near Cape Town and was vice-captain of the well known 2012 HTS Drotsdy first team that finished 12th in the country and had players like Wilco Louw and Hanro Liebenberg. That same year he played Boland Academy week.

After being scouted by the Pukke varsity Cup scouts while in school, he was offered an opportunity to pursue his rugby career and studies there. Thus in 2013 he made the move to Pukke where he worked his way up the ranks while balancing his studies and rugby. He had to compete with great scrumhalf’s but was the starting number 9 for the Leopards u19 and also vice-captain. The Leopards u19 team played semi-finals that year, which is a massive achievement and came as a shock to many rugby followers. The following year he made his Senior Leopards debut in the Vodacom Cup and worked his way through the u21 level two years in a row. His big break you could say was being part of the NWU Pukke Varsity Cup winning team in 2016 who beat Maties in Stellenbosch to lift the trophy for the first time. The same year he was playing Currie Cup qualifiers for the Leopards and then lost in the Currie Cup final first division against the Griffons two times in a row (2016 and 2017). In 2018 he was vice-captain of the Pukke Varsity Cup team who played in the final against Maties but unfortunately lost in Stellenbosch. The same year he captained a couple of Currie Cup first division games and played his 50th senior rugby match for the Leopards. Beginning of 2019, he played his final game for the Pukke against Tuks in the semi-final of the Varsity Cup, this was his 30th game. He received a massive opportunity to play for the Griquas the same year and was part of the winning team who won the Supersport Challenge and then went on to play Currie Cup for the Griquas who made the semi-final for the first time since 1998. In 2020, Chriswill joined the Pumas, where he found massive success representing them in the SA Super Rugby (during lockdown) and winning the oldest competion in world rugby, the Currie Cup for the first time ever.

Chriswill enjoys the game and sometimes that’s all he wants to do is play and play with freedom. Chriswill possess good leadership abilities, rugby knowledge and has excellent skills. He has an excellent work ethic and determination. He has amazing ability to control the game, play at his pace and at the same time is nippy and is a huge threat around the fringes of breakdown
