Personal Overview

My name is Connor De Bruyn. I am 20 years of age (08/01/2002).

I would be very interested in being recruited by a Rugby club.

I am South African and have dual Nationality. I hold a British Passport and am both English and Scottish qualified. And would be really motivated to kick start my rugby career in England or Scotland for the 23/24 season.

• I was recruited by the Scottish Rugby Union in 2021 ( I finished high school in December 2020) and Joined Glasgow Warriors Academy in January 2021, under Shade Munro at Glasgow. I contracted as a centre. And also sometimes trained at wing.
• At that time, as you are aware, there was a full lockdown in the UK. Therefore I was only able to play in one match for Glasgow Warriors (A) side against Edinburgh (A).– The rest of the season we did training with the main GW squad.
• I was selected for the U/20 Scottish 6 Nations training squad last year, 2021. However, I had to withdraw due to an injured thumb that required surgery. –(thumb fully healed and all good) -I was 19 years of age and being in full lockdown and injured I decided to return back to SA.
• Towards the end of last year (2021), I started pre-season with the Sharks U/20 team, and this year I have been part of the U/20 Sharks team. From time to time I was called up by Etienne Fynn from the U/20’s training, to training sessions with the main Sharks Currie cup side.
• Presently -At the beginning of Sept 2022, I moved over to Ireland, where I have been recruited to play for the City of Armagh Rugby team. 

At High School, I was selected for the following:

• u16 Sharks for the SA interprovincial tournament (Grant Khomo). (2018).
• U16 SA Elite Player Squad Camp.(2018).
• U17 Sharks 7’s team for the SA Interprovincial Tournament - (2018) ( I was 16 years of age).
• U17 Sharks 7’s team for SA Interprovincial Tournament (2019).
• U18 Sharks for the SA interprovincial tournament  (U18 Craven Week ) (2019).
• U18 SA 7’S team for the international tournament (2020).
• Unfortunately, all Schoolboy rugby from March 2020 was canceled due to covid. This was my final year in high school. The Sharks U18 Couch Mr Jeremy Mclaren ( please see attached reference) was confident that I would have been in the mix for selection for U18 SA rugby team for 2020.
