Personal Overview

My name is Adonnis Lee-Johnson, and I am a rugby player from Cal Poly Humboldt (formerly known as Humboldt State University). I have been playing Rugby since Fallsemester of 2013. Not too long of a resume since I began my Rugby career in college, but I have been fortunate enough to pack in (as my coach Greg would say) a lot of tools to my toolbox. Greg Pargee is the foundation of my Rugby career, with him being my first ever coach for the new sport I fell in love with. He took me under his wing and always told me "You could go far if you  got rid of the football mentality and trained hard enough. His first step was to humble me. I was the breakout All-Star and my biggest problem was my football mentality of thinking i was God's gift to Rugby. I wasnt... My first season I started all of my games and scored a little over twenty tries throughout our season. I stopped shopwiong up to prqactice and became big headed. So I began to sit ouit for the first 40 minutes, due to Greg not allowing me to start. It definitely hurt to be benched, especially since even in highschool I played both ways AND special teams. I never got off the field, so sitting on the bench was a huge wake up call. I began showing up to practice and started molding into the team leader Greg saw me to be. Fast forward to the Summer of my sophomore year, Greg tells me its time for the next step of my career and he buys me a one way train ticket to Aspen Colorado to further fine tune my skills as a player. There I met Cameron McIntyre! Head coach for The Gentlemen of Aspen rugby football club. I spent the next two summers in Aspen while regurgitating my newly acquired skills back on Humboldt State grounds during the school year. I went on to become a 6x NSCRO All Star as a wing/centre. Not too long before finishing school, the first ever MLR draft and I decided it would not hurt to throw my hat in the ring... I gained  A LOT more traction than I thought, even being mentioned on The Rugby Wrap Up on instagram! This bit of traction gained me a Developmemtal contract with the Jackals. Long story short, Jackals flopped and I took my talents to my hometown with the permission of All Blacks Great, Orene Aii! So now I am going into my 3rd season as a Giltini Academy player, as well as a Santa Monica Dolphin D1 club member.
