To whom it may concern Elan Schutte has been a student at The Sharks Academy for two years, the last of which has been severely disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic. He is a diligent and conscientious individual who is very attentive and has given full attention to his overall development. He is a valuable member of his club and has played at senior level for them. Thi is indicative of his durability and willingness to play his heart out. He will do well in any environment as he is a gentleman and is willing to go the extra mile to ensure his team’s success. Sincerely Etienne Fynn Manager: The Sharks Academy

This year is Elan’s first season in the Senior Division. He joined the Senior squad, at the end of 2019, in the Off Season training program and then continued in January 2020 with Pre Season training. Elan is a committed and hard-working young man who never misses a session. He is reliable and often works on his off days to improve his fitness and strength. He is polite, well-mannered and gets on with his teammates, while maintaining a competitive ethos amongst, in particular, the forwards and the team. As far as his playing ability goes he is a physical player who enjoys the hard work required of his position. Although still young, and in his first season of the senior age group, he stood up to the physicality and could be counted on to make his tackles and clean rucks. He is a good line out jumper and suits the number 4 lock role; although, he is comfortable at calling lineouts or even as loose forward. Elan is young and extremely keen to learn. He often asked both coaches and players for advice to further improve his own game in order to benefit the team. Elan is a polite, hard-working and likeable young rugby player who has the potential to grow and develop in whatever rugby environment he should find himself.
