Personal Overview

Hi there. My name is Ben Reid. I started my playing career in 2003 after the rugby world cup. I started off playing as a loose head prop but as time went on i transitioned in to a tight head, however i am still utilised on the loose head side . I would classify my self as an old school style prop. My scrummaging and set piece is something i have worked on heavily over the years , I would say that scrummaging and ball carrying are my two biggest strengths in my game. I love a scrum !! 

I started off playing at my home town club North Shields RFC where i played for 15 years, coming up through the ranks and in to the 1stXV , gaining promotions and winning silverware at Kingston Park. I then made a transfer over to the oldest rugby club in Newcastle , Northern FC who normally compete at level 6 or 7.Unfortunately due to the season being cut off early we missed the chance of promotion by a margin finishing 3rd . Over my career i have played representative rugby for Northumberland County .

I am a good character to have in the dressing room and would class my self as a good team player and a strong motivator , i also love helping out with younger players in the team get the most out of their playing. I am happy to play anywhere in the world pretty much as i have worked away alot and love new challenges and cultures.
