Profile Overview

My name is Reinhard Buys and I am a dedicated and driven rugby coach with eight years of experience coaching across primary school, high school, varsity, and club levels. I am a World Rugby Level 1 coach with a strong player–coach background, having competed at four levels of the game: provincial junior rugby, high school rugby, varsity rugby, and club rugby. This multi-level exposure has equipped me with a deep understanding of player development, game demands, and team dynamics.

My coaching philosophy strongly emphasizes discipline, accountability, and building a team identity rooted in core values both on and off the pitch. I believe that culture drives performance, and I am committed to creating environments where players grow as athletes and individuals. I focus on technical precision, structured development, and long-term progression, while fostering a professional mindset that is conducive to both winning and player growth.

I have coached both 7's and 15's and hold a National Diploma In Fitness, supported by qualifications as a Personal Trainer. I also bring administration, budgeting and managerial experience working for the University of the Free State. I also have experience as a conditioning coach allowing me to cotribute on and off the field in various ways.
