Profile Overview

Experience and Qualifications:

  • I have over thirteen years of documented coaching experience across high performance professional rugby at senior XV, academy and national age grade- including Director of Rugby, Head Coach, and assistant roles.
  • My tenure in performance-oriented environments, both at the club, regional, and national team levels, has equipped me with the necessary skills to thrive under pressure, deliver results, and foster a culture of excellence within the team. As coach in high performance rugby,  the expectation is to win. My coaching approach is based upon building strong, positive relationships with all my players and understand them not just as a rugby player but as a human being.
  • I hold a World Rugby Level 3 Coach certificate and possess a deep understanding of data analysis programs such as Hudl, SportsCode, and NacSport. Daily I use these data analysis programs and incorporate their practical use in training and game review/previews, opposition analysis, player led analysis task, one to one development feedback. In addition to the use of analysis software, analysis of GPS data will formulate my performance-oriented decision-making process in conjunction with coaches and support staff.
  • I have experience in providing well written, in-depth performance reports supported with data. These reports would be based upon - seasonal, quarterly and competition standings KPIs versus outcomes achieved within given timelines and delivering success within budgets.
  • I have experience in building coaching and support teams. Built on respect, trust, honesty, and importantly aligned to achieve to same KPIs and vision. As a Head Coach currently at Cardiff Metropolitan University high performance rugby program - I have detailed experience and delivery in seasonal, quarterly, block and camp planning. The core nature of the planning is to optimise our performance leading into competition - balancing rugby, analysis, off field, and strength and conditioning. Being the environment that we have, we don’t always have the full range of players available. I must plan, maximise the learning time, as a program we have to hit the ground running with our intentions and vision for the year.
  • I believe in creating a culture of positivity and within an ever-evolving environment with strong and effective staff. This is achieved by clear communication - keeping coaches and support staff highly engaged within the planning process for the national team and national age grade programs. As a coach who has experience, knowledge and understands the physical demands of international rugby, our players must meet them to enhance with how we want to play.
