Club Overview

Pleasant Point Rugby Football Club (aka the “Mud Dogs”) are currently seeking expressions of interest from overseas players looking to experience life and rugby in New Zealand. The club has a rich 134 year old history and currently play in the South Canterbury club competition for the Hammersley Cup. Pleasant Point is a small town located 15 minutes drive from the town of Timaru. 

The Mud Dogs pride themselves on having a welcoming family culture and a great social atmosphere. PPRFC have provided life-long memories for a number of overseas players over the clubs history. 

The competition allows for a great pathway to higher representative rugby opportunities. A ‘South Canterbury’ team is selected to play in the Heartland competition which represents 14 provinces from across all of New Zealand. Following this competition there is a “New Zealand Heartland XV” selected for a tour.
