Chard Rugby Football Club was formed in 1876 and one of the oldest clubs in Somerset, is a thriving community rugby club with 4 senior sides including the Ladies XV, Colts XV and 12 Mini and Junior teams. The first XV Play in the Western counties West league including teams in Devon, Dorset Cornwall and Somerset; the second XV play their Rugby in Somerset 2 with the Third XV playing in Somerset 3 league and the Ladies have just joined the NC Southwest South 2 League. This exciting level of rugby will be maintained by the ever growing youth section.
Chard Rugby Football Club have over the years enjoyed many success and promotions including a play off promotion that took Chard into the National league 3 (South West) this coupled with providing various players to Bath Rugby, Taunton Titans, various county rugby representative sides, England Colleges, Poland u21 international rugby side and Scotland u18’s to name but a few.
Our 3 year plan is to develop Chard Rugby club and return to the National rugby league and we would like to invite quality players to be involved with our club on this journey.
