Club Overview

Heidelberger Ruderklub ist the oldest rugby club in Germany. In the coming season 2025/2026, HRK will play in the 1. Bundesliga, the highest rugby union league in Germany. In 2024/2025 the 1. Bundesliga was divided into South-West and North-East teams and a qualifying mode was played to determine who will play in the new 1. Bundesliga covering all of Germany. HRK finished 5th in the regular and won the qualifier match against a North-East-Team to qualify for the new 1. Bundesliga.

HRK has a young and ambitious team that has been building for several years now. The team is a combination of internationally experienced players leading the way and young ambitious players that came up from out own youth playerpathway who are eager to prove themselves. We are looking for one or two impact players (most needed positions are 12/13, 9/10 and to a lesser extent 4/5/8) for the upcoming season. We can only consider players that have an EU passport, NZ and AUS (both eligible for working holiday visa) are also possible, preferably if they already are based in Europe.

We are an ambitious amateur team that wants to play the best possible rugby, improve the players and have fun while doing it. With some of Germany's most advanced rugby facilities with an astro turf pitch and roofed outdoor training areas, so we can train all year, we have a solid basis. Players are able to use the on-site gym for free. We help new players to get settled in. Depending on the player's level and willingness to do youth coaching (coaching experience and/or license a plus), we can offer subsidized or free accommodation. In addition we try fo help players find a suitable job if needed.

We are looking for ambitious players who want to enjoy rugby on a decent level in one of Germanys most beautiful cities while being eager to improve their own level of playing and willing to put in the required work and be a valued part of our team. We are looking forward to your message! Footage is required.
